At least somebody’s wishes are coming true right on the first day of the new year.
Happy New Year, everyone!

I know! I don’t know how I didn’t know about it before my dad, but since Friday I’ve been pregaming with clips and old photos. The joy happens for me tonight… it’s motivating me to get through the day! 🙂

yay 🙂 happy new year!
Happy new year to you, too!
But in regards to episode one, what did you think? Was it just me, or was it a bit… off? I can’t place my finger on it, but something about the show bothered me. Was it the pacing? The acting? Am I maybe just too tired?
I think I’m too tired. I just have to rewatch it tonight!
I have finally watched it (I don’t have a tv, so I had to wait to stream it), and I liked it, although something is bothering me — but I will need to think about it. I think I am a bit worried that the whole death of Mary which makes Watson super hate Sherlock is (albeit a natural reaction) too familiar (and I am not fully sure if in a productive way — hopefully I am wrong, but now all I can think about is House-Wilson dynamic after Amber died). I really enjoyed all of the close-ups of Cumberbatch though 🙂
Agreed. I love the visuals and the close ups of Cumberbatch.
And I am partway through watching it again and realize that it’s the end that leaves the sour note in my mouth… The pacing was a bit fast (trying to get crime plot, family and love plot, Mary’s life and death plot into one show is bound to have been difficult), but it’s the end that seemed a bit incongruous the first time around that bothers me. I’ll see if I like it better the second time. I suspect that they worked so much with it, they forgot what it may be like for the unexpected viewer.
Since I’m in Germany, I couldn’t watch it on TV nor on PBS online… so I splurged and bought the first episode on iTunes. Then, my father bought me a season four pass. 🙂 Needless to say, I’m a happy camper!
I agree — pacing is definitely the problem, especially since it slows down to a crawl in the scene at the Aquarium. Well, if they had been making a season a year, this would have been a whole season.
